Was working perfectly on Sat, then yesterday I pulled it out of the shed and noticed the pedals turning but not the wheel. Odd. It’s a 10yr old Hope hub which I serviced last year so I figured should last a while longer.

Am I going to have to strip it down to see what’s happened or is there a common fault here?

As above; the freehub is probably stuck. Unlikely to be broken, in my opinion – it would most likely fail when in use.

I’d give your hub a strip and regrease.
