Spending a week up there in June and while Grizedale isn’t far there do seem to be enough bridleways local to Cartmel where I’m staying to keep me happy. Are they worth a punt? Or should I just head for the big hills for my xc fun?

Lots of the bridleways there are good. The woodland ones are often on limestone, so slapey if wet.
Trails around Woodland (west of the southern end of coniston) are very good. A riide up Black Combe is worthit on a nice evening.

The bridleways in the valley would entertain for a few days, not too technical but fun to do. You can ride furtherout towards Chapel House woods or Witherslack. Drop me an email if you want more info.
