  • Carbon clear coat blistering clear coat under U lock clamp/damage?

Purchased a second hand barely used carbon road bike, noticed a blister once home. Reviewed ad and can see previous owner had what looks like a U lock bracket fitted.

I am not 100% sure the frame is damaged and seeking clarification either way, if it was a normal metal bike I wouldn’t think twice and just flat it back and relaquer (or just ignore it!)

I was hoping an inspection method could be used to confirm it is in fact just the clear coat (or not as may be the case!), and fired an email to to couple of repair specialists.

The blister seems to have a line/groove down the middle which I’m unsure is a depression or just feeling that way due to the blistering/raised material either side.
The crazing is from me pressing the blister and the clear coat cracking/crazing.
It’s located on the top tube area.
Pic also attached of bike to show mount that was on by previous owner.

Anyone got an opinion? It’s an odd one to me.
Maybe even a chemical reaction? Something got under the clamp and reacted? But wouldn’t explain the groove in it.

It looks like it’s worn the paint – difficult to say.

The worn looking area is lifted like a blister/bubble as opposed to rubbed.
Pics probablt don’t show it that well!

i dont see anything in the damage that would worry me

How ever i have to question what kind of monster buys a propel and then puts that bracket on there in the first place.
