    Pads look similar, any reason why not?

    Yes you can, and the system 8 pads too, and Shimano XT 755 too. I have never bought genuine Hope M4 pads. I mainly buy the old Shimano ones off ebay for about a fiver (sintered), they usually come with a £14.95 price sticker on. They work great and last for ages 😉
