I’ve not camped but we been to Brittany on family holidays for the last 10 years.

    Nice area. Good for kids.

Lots of marked trails for riding, But not necessarily that testing.

Anywhere in particular you were wanting to go?

Lots of family Hols in southern Brittany in the Carnac area and in particular at La Trinite staying at Camping de la Baie and sister site Camping de la Plage. We take our caravan but sites also take tents and are adjacent beach. Great for young families, not bad for cycling but we take cross bikes as off road limited although lots of quiet tarmac roads available. We also sail and windsurf so that is our main reason for going to the area. The Carnac area and St Quiberon peninsula seem to have a micro climate generating slightly better weather than the general area.

Lots and lots of nice sites,we usually go with Yelloh or Siblu, worth booking online and saving some cash. Not done much riding over there though.UKcampsites have a good list of sites, both commercial and municipal.

Any of the “Castells” sites are usually good.

    Brittany 2012

Dunno if you’re thinking of bike touring there? We’ve done it twice as a family cycling between unbooked campsites and deciding where we head to next as we go. Only had a problem one time when there was a big music festival at Paimpol and every campsite was full for miles around. Also went back there this year with a friend camping wild and also staying at the odd campsite when we wanted a shower.

great place for cycling and just ambling about, great beaches in the quimper area, we stayed a week in Skaer– small village, breton teaching centre, great municipal campsite, cheap and clean , but as above you can just go anywhere in the region with no worries apart from the ‘music ‘festival time !!– carhaix plougeres , was like that, grate site, but when i took the family is was a techno fest for 48 hrs !!

i will give you some grid refs for some ‘quiet beaches’ that a local surfer showed us, they were great..

Can recommend Benodet as a nice small friendly resort, stopped at Camping Pointe St Gilles,an easy walk into Benodet, visited the Letty for a nosy looked a really nice site.smaller and quieter than the Pointe St Gilles, which was very busy in August (no surprise there then).but IMO french sites are well organised, clean and friendly, and it’s hard to go wrong.

+1 for La Trinite , stayed at Camping de la Plage a few years ago and several France trips later still remains our favourite French holiday .
