IMHO, the classic sugar and lemon takes a lot of beating but can anyone suggest some alternative great pancake fillings….

Minced beef and onion or chicken & mushroom in tarragon sauce always get my vote 😀

Got to be lemon and sugar but maple syrup comes a close (ish) second.

Nope no joke, its good honest, not all pancakes have to be sweet

by going savoury you can get a Starter Main and a few deserts out of pancake day 😯

Cheese is good. Also minced beef a la findus crispy pancake.

For sweet, try chocolate spread rolled up then with a load of squirty cream on it. Lovely.

Ok then,

Prawn and spinach soufflé with passion fruit and lime jelly garnished with bacon foam and fresh walnut juice. Scented with essence of ponce.

I have to agree with the savoury pancake comment – you can some really nice cheesy combo’s.

Roper – where can I get said Bacon Foam – sounds delish. As for essence of ponce – that just sounds wrong on so many levels 😉

Nutella and amareto

Had nutella in one for lunch, and squeezed orange/honey in the other.

If I’d had time I’d have fried some mushrooms with garlic and grated some cheese though.

Always prefer savoury if I have the choice.

Will feel like a lard arse for eating so much, but will hopefully give me enough of a sugar high to last me through Lent.

Whilst lemon and sugar is the best I do like ones with icecream stuffed in the middle. My mum used to make wholemeal ones with cheese which were most good.
