An ex-housemate of mine is trying to raise donations of tools and parts and money for a project on the Island of Lesbos, where 1000s of refugees have ended up in what sounds like dire conditions.

The idea is to get bikes up and running for people to get around the island and fulfil basic needs without hiking for hours, and train up refugees in the camps as mechanics.

Some background info about the Island from the Guardian:

And the page for the project itself.

I would of thought there’s a fair few people on here with spare stuff…

Brilliant, will donate some cash and I have loads of old spare bits, I’ll contact them and see what the score is.

We went to Lesbos for a week’s holiday a few years ago, beautiful island. I remember looking across the water to Turkey and thinking ‘blimey’ that’s not far’. Little did we realise at the time what the consequence of that proximity would be, both for the refugees and the islanders, all of whom are stuck in the middle of global geopolitical bollocks 🙁

Great work by your ex-housemate. I’ve made a small donation.
