What a blingin pain in the proverbial they are eh? Does anyone actually get on with ’em? Why do they exist, is there a reason? And, if I dislike them so much, why do so many of my pants have one?? Such a pain if you’re busting for a slash, I find myself having to undo my belt and top 2-3 buttons before relief can commence, am I just useless?

    Grrrr…. 😡

Why would you need to undo any part of your underwear to get your wang out?

Does your mum/GF/SO buy your clothes for you or is it possible to do some pre-purchase inspection of garments?

    Ode to underwear fastenings…

    pants? I wear shorts,
    which have a solitary button,
    which is never ever fastened,
    just in case…

Now trousers, well yes, Button fly, of course,
often opened, fastened, opened and forgotten
no problems and no fear of the zipper catch cut
    just buttons, they’re safe…

Would you prefer hair entangled & matted velcro,
ripping and tearing at your crotch,
    painful pubic hair pulling?
    no thanks, not a lot…

Press studs are only friends of the impromptu exposer,
hook and eye, well that just too bizzare,
    lace, toggle or ripcord?
just stick with buttons, you’ll go far…

Easier than zips in my experience: grasp trousers/pants either side of fly and pull = buttons undone, relief commences 🙂

I’d reckon that on all my jeans, which are all button fly, I only have to undo the top button to get them off.

Yep and you never ‘catch’ anything in your buttons.
Though “catching it in the buttons” now sounds like some sort of euphemism…

A button fly (the superior type IMO) can be undone in a single manoeuvre. A zipper requires two, and it’s worse if it’s a fiddly small zip! They can be confusing when on another person though, just takes a bit of getting used to.

    Levi’s 501 are button fly. I wish they weren’t.

The zipper is king! All you button fly fans do know that everyone thinks you are playing with yourself as you fumble to do them up at the urinal…..or are you REALLY playing with yourselves?

So buy jeans with zips, then. There’s no law says you have to buy 501’s, only preference. I have both sorts, Howies with buttons, Oakley’s with zips, mil. surplus camo combats with both, depending on source. Personally I prefer buttons, and have no issues with undoing a belt and a couple of buttons, whereas I have had a zip jam solid on some teeshirt material which is a damned nuisance, and a little embarrassing. Mostly wear tee’s outside me jeans these days.

    Or, are Northern.

Generally, the trick to button flies is not to button up the top button first like you would with a zipper when putting them on. Going for a slash, I generally leave my belt / top button fastened, it’s pretty easy once you’ve done it a few times (think I’ve been wearing button fly jeans since puberty pretty much).

Button fly underpants, now, they are a pain in the whatsits. Last thing you want to be doing in a public urinal is fiddling around inside your jeans like you can’t find what you’re looking for.

Speaking from experience, that could have been a lot worse.

They take a while to get used to.

Button flys (flies?) prevent that embarrassing “it’s not a boner honest, it’s just the zip is quite stiff and it makes my jeans stick up” moment

I’m rocking a particularly cool pair of hound-tooth check Fred Perry slacks. They’re button fly.
