You should still enter, Al. Because even with your pitiful bike skills most of the other competitors might then get to learn some road/cycle craft.!
I’ve just come in from watching the wife in a local sprint tri and dear god the quality of riding is woeful! Not a single hand signal from any of them, barely any road sense at all. Cornering like a newborn deer with an ear infection. It’s a miracle half the field aren’t DNFd in a ditch.
Heh stoner, I know, they are dreadful, I’ve only entered long/small events so not had to deal with numpty riding much, though the offroad one I did was truly shocking – folk puncturing on the CLIMBS!!?!?

Not all triathletes are terrible bike handlers – it’s a bit like saying all cyclists jump red lights. Plenty of pointy end age groupers road race as cat 2 and above to keep themselves sharp and ride with road clubs. Some are terrible I admit – it’s a broad church.
