Nope, not if they’re quality ones with all leather construction. Using Mink Oil on the uppers will help, and decent thick insoles to cushion your feet will help.

My cowboy boots have very little (read no) grip on the sole. I retired them after nearly dying walking to work in the snow/ice one year. All my fault, but I could never look at the boots in the same light again. Somehow, I felt they let me down……
