Just got out the octalink bb on my cyclocross bike.

    its a BB-6500; 68 and 109.5. Plenty of 109.00 out there but not 109.5
Any difference in reality? Does 0.5 rally matter?
I can only assume the drive side cup will be short of 0.5

Its a Trek A01 Cyclocross frame if that helps?

    Cheers

I think the only currently available bbs that will work with your chainset are either a BB5500 or a BB7700. These are 109.5 but often listed as 109. BB6500 hasn’t been produced for ages.

Doesn’t 68 refer to the shell width, and 109 total length? I don’t think .5mm will make the damnedest bit of difference.

    is octalink being phased out?

i have another bike with the same bb type, may be time to buy a couple for stock.

Arrived and it’s a 109.5, looks good. I will get a couple for stock as everyone’s on external brackets it seems.
