So, I was changing the front mech cable on my road bike and the hole it goes through in the bb shell was jammed full o’crap. I tried poking it out etc but to no avail.

Next up I removed the chainset & bb to see if I could get to it that way. Turns out I couldn’t due to a whopping alloy bb shell insert. I refitted the bb & chainset, cleared the cable hole eventually using a tiny drill bit turned by hand to clear the crap.

Put it all back together, indexed the mech and went to clear up only to find the little plastic tube that goes between the bb cups on the table. It’s not the end of the world if that doesn’t go back in is it? Considering the bb sits in a sealed alloy shell insert and there’s no way water can get to it via the tubes.

Strip it and put it back together properly, it’ll only bug you if you don’t 😉
