When all this is over, nobody will be able to call Thatcher’s resignation ‘dramatic,’ Cameron’s departure humiliating and May’s will be looked back on as dignified and gracious.

Johnson’s smashed it, he really has.

Just realised that Dominic Raab will likely be acting PM tomorrow…

    Thats a comforting thought :-/

LOL! The oppositions are getting all very excited at the prospect of seeing Power is getting closer and within their reach.

Whereas you get priapic at the mere mention of The blond buffoon

Any opposition supporters will say that regardless.

Have you heard the word ‘hypocrite’?

I’m hoping he goes full ‘scorched earth’ and calls a GE, which might as well be handing SKS the keys to No.10 at this point

I’m pretty you need a 2/3s majority in the House of Commons for that. Although it would be fun watching the opposition voting with the government and the government voting against itself!

Anyone know what the song is playing over the loudspeakers near Downing st?

It was “bye-bye Boris, Boris, bye-bye” this morning live on ITV. Susanna Reid was even dancing to it.

If Macron can stay in “power” so can Boris.

Don’t worry about it, a staffer will give him his wooden blocks and peg and hammer set, he won’t be a bother to anyone

You do understand that we have a totally different structure of government in the uk compared to France?

Not unless he resigns too – which someone can arrange for him if he can’t work out how to do it himself

    🙂

No they repealed the fixed term parliament act in March. All it needs is for Johnson to go to the Queen and ask for parliament to be dissolved. Unfortunately he appears to have ruled it out, but given his form that doesn’t mean he won’t.

Just realised that Dominic Raab will likely be acting PM tomorrow…

More likely that Johnson will stay in place while they elect a new leader.

    ‘Angela Rayner for PM?

She’d do a better job than Boris. Hell I’d do a better job than Boris and I’m the most incompetent person I know.

Yes, but Macron doesn’t look pleasing at the moment so why doesn’t he resign?

    LOL!

I will vote for you but so long as power doesn’t get to you first.

Macron was elected president by the country, not his members of Parliament.
Boris was chosen as pm because he leads the party with the biggest number of mp’s. We didn’t vote for him directly and he is only in post due to the decision of the Conservative party.

He ruled it out at the end of the committee meeting.

Not that either of those statements mean anything, of course.

The oppositions are getting all very excited at the prospect of seeing Power is getting closer and within their reach.

I genuinely don’t think they want it.

Tha analysts are saying that he won’t resign come what may, because he wants the theatre of being dragged out so he can state that he was prevented from doing his job, not that he resign from doing his job.

Typical Johnson, all about him and his lurid reputation.

Seems appropriate given that’s what Boris has done since he started.

Unlikely until around this time next week, I’d say.

In politics? They ALL want power! They ALL believe their own hype. They ALL believe they are above others. Politicians don’t desire power? Crikey the world has gone silly billy …

Why in the utter **** is there a discussion about Macron on this thread?

    Slight diversion there, my bad.

Chris Bryant has just made the point that he constantly keeps referring to ‘HIS’ mandate as if he were an elected president, not a representative of an elected party.

He honestly seems to think he is ‘World King’

I’m sticking a tenner on him doing this…

He’s going to do it, isn’t he?

    Just because he still can

Nooooooo, don’t let the public have a say in it for gods sake, you know where that ends 😉

If Boris is out, assuming the oppositions’ wish comes true, I think we might return to “normal” and perhaps get “cheaper” fuel if there is no more stomach to support Ukraine … Yes?

Hell Clement Attlee would do a better job than Boris and he’s been dead for years.

It was a blood bath, johnson got utterly destroyed.

He’ll go full Kim Jon-un. He’ll be standing in front of Downing Street tomorrow in military regalia and medals stating that he’s now the Commander-in-Chief and declaring martial law.

    I suppose the real issue I see is this;

The time for all these gits to grow a conscience was a month ago when a VOC was called, what’s really changed since? A few more instances of sleaze and brushed under the carpet breaches of parliamentary code, none of it really shocking anymore. I think the most telling thing is that they’re realising a cabinet post now comes with the implicit expectation that a minister will lie and obfuscate on behalf of dear leader, with no guarantees that he won’t subsequently contradict or hang them out to dry for it…

“Operation save Big Dog” has failed, not because the public are baying for the PM’s blood, but because he has demonstrated that he will sacrifice his most staunch supporters for another ten minutes in power…

For me all Tory MPs are tarred with the same brush of utter self-interest before their duty as parliamentarians, and I think that perspective may stick for a while, possibly till the next GE(?) we’ll see. But they’ve certainly given the opposition a pretty big stick to beat them with for a wee while yet…

Why would he resign? It’s not I. His nature. It’s not what the bullingdon club expects. Bluff and bluster. Do a Churchill and stick it out. Judging by the general public who think he’s doing his best the.n even a GE would result in more years of his dross
