    Shimano DEORE M6000, 2×10, boost :

    Singletrack article from March 5 mentiones that for “boost” the DEORE M6000 (2x) only is available in 36/26t chainring version.

    I really like the mountain goat setup with 34/24t and 11…42 cassette so.

    For the Shimano M8000 XT 2x boost drivetrain the 34/24t crank is available. Any technical reason the Deore M6000 not? Or only marketing?

    Single M6000 replacement chainrings 24 and 34 are available for little money and an easy task to mount those onto the M6000 crank. Any reason this “custom” M6000 34/24t won’t work on a 2x boost frame? Can’t think of any…

    Ideas?

    Offering fewer options cuts costs, and so fewer options are offered at the lower end (especially in lower volume options like Boost) to help hit lower prices.

    The non-Boost version will give you better chainline if your chainstays have clearance for it.

    @sillyoldman:

    thanks!

    Yes – guess that’s is the reason.

    Use the M6000 Deore 2×10 with this “mountain goat set up” 34/24t , 11…42 on a “non-boost” hardtail und building right now a Stereo 150, 27.5+ and was wondering about the singletrack M6000 review.

    This M6000 stuff is sooo faaaantastic – and the steepest uphill stuff is fun suddenly! Best drivetrain I had for a long time. New side swing front mech: chaindrop is history!

    New boost bike: measured the chainstay clearance on the Cube frame. Appears to be tight. Will most probably buy the Deore boost 36/26t and convert to 34/24t.

    Yes – must be the “lower volume” reason that Shimano only sells the 36/26t version for boost.

    Cheers!
