  • Boiler – hole in flu?!
  • Hello

We’ve just had a new boiler installed and I noticed that there’s a half inch threaded hole that’s open in the flu – I can see daylight through it and hot air is coming out.

Should this have a cap on it or something?

I’m sat clutching my CO alarm …

Yup. That’s for flue gas analysis, saves the engineer having to climb up the wall outside. If it’s not capped you’ve go CO2 and CO coming into the room. That’s bad. I’d plug it with something for now, have a look round for the cap and give the installer a call.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking – even to my untrained eye it didn’t seem an. Good idea

Apparently the apprentice left it off – have found the gap.

Apprentice needs a talking to / supervising! 🤔😬☹️
