Never used them before, they felt spongey from new and after bleeding all the air out ( at least I think all) they feel exactly the same. Are they just like that or is there a secret?

Best tip I can give is to exercise the caliper pistons (allow them to come out further than normal, then push them back in), they’re usually stuck to their seals from new, and freeing them up will make an enormous difference to feel and performance.
