Another phone thread! 😀 Has anyone seen any good black Friday deals about?

I’m looking for a new phone for the missus, around £150 and android, and 6″ screen or under. It’s just for general use, navigating whilst driving, spotify, and the mainly the camera (coming from a Moto g4+)

I’ve been looking at the Xiaomi Mi A3, but the 720p screen sort of offsets having the good camera, as nothing will look as good on it!
Also looking at the Samsung A40, but open to suggestions or any deals about!

I might also be tempted to get something for me… considering a Xiaomi MI 9t… looking around the £250 mark but definitely open to other options (coming from a OnePlus 3t).

I bought the A3 for my son, and I have to say I’d live with the resolution for the OLED display – it looks lovely.
Amazing battery life too. A 3h Strava ride takes about 15% of battery.
Only real downside is lack of NFC.

I considered the Mi version (which has NFC and a higher res screen, but isn’t Android One) for myself at around £190.
Shame all the models are confusing, but in the end got a refurb Pixel 2 for £170. Mainly because of the camera.

Definitely research the Mi models – there is one under £200 that has everything that the A3 has, but also NFC and higher res.

Hang on, you’ve lost me already! Are you saying there are Mi and non-Mi versions of the Xiaomi A3? I can only find the Mi A3 from a quick google… (like this one)

No – but it’s pretty much the same spec.
It’s the Mi 9 Lite.
It was £194 last week on 11:11 day.
Expect it to drop again.

Also on a OnePlus 3 and I’m watching to see if Moto G7 Power gets reduced any further although, at £160, its already very well priced

Pixel 3a widely available for £329 from today. Great camera, and the lesser spotted headphone jack.

I have a Pixel 3a – have zero complaints, great phone/price and the camera is excellent.

For your missus, have a look at Nokias? They have vanilla Android software with fast updates (Project One or something like that). Sure I saw a headline about them doing Black Friday deals just now. Been getting positive reviews and are generally £100-200-ish

Pixel 3a is tempting, I have a Mi A1 and it’s been just amazing for the money but is starting to feel a bit slow two years down the line.
