Potentially looking at a Bird Zero TR from the bird site and not sure about sizing ?

I’m 6 foot 1 and normally ride a large however found my last Stumpjumper a bit small even though that was large. Also found a large parkwood to small/short.

The large zero TR has a reach of 472mm compared to the stumpy at 435 ish. So that’s nearly 4cm longer !!!

Is this the new modern geometry thing ?

What size do you lot ride ?

    Cheers

    Steve.

Bird are supposed to be pretty good for test rides and phone advice.

    For some yes.
    For others no.
Try riding rather than procrastinating. 😐

Think you’ve seen the comment on the other thread but really liking it. It’s the first hardtail I’ve had for a while and forgot how fun/capable they are. I did look at a few other bikes including the on one deedar but kept coming back to the TR for spec and looks. Its been faultless and the service was first class. I even emailed Bird one Saturday night not expecting a reply until Monday but got a reply minutes later.

    I’m 6′ 1″ and ride an XL Aeris (486mm reach) with a 35mm stem. It’s awesome.

My mate’s a smidge under 6′ and rides a large, again with a 35mm stem.

The guys at Bird are awesome and will help with sizing / sorting a demo.

If you’re comparing hardtail with full-sus, add 20mm to the reach number for the hardtail to compensate for how sag affects both of them.

I’d guess you’re a large on the Zero TR unless you were running a long stem and still feeling way too big for your Stumpy. I’m 5’10.5″ and on a medium Zero AM with a 35mm stem and I’d say it’s on the larger side for me – with the TR I’d rather ride a small than a medium.

Yeah I’ve just had an email from Ben saying large would be ideal.

Just trying to de between this or a 29er ragley big wig or whyte 629.

You’re pretty close for a test ride Renton. Given the track record you’ve had with bike fits why don’t you just pop down and see what it’s like. FWIW I have a Bird Aeris and the guys are awesome at answering questions and giving advice.

Just out of intetrest are there any other Tr owners on here.

Read a review somewhere saying they are hardwork as an all day bike?

    Would you agree ?

I’m interested in the new 120 but there are so many sizing options!

I’m 5’11 with short legs and a long torso 🙄

I’m 5’11” on a large with 45mm stem, feels perfect for me. Long legs and short body. Also ride a size large commencal meta V4, which I really like, but wish it had the length of the Bird.

ML I bet. The L is BIG! And I’m the same height but with long legs and would ride an M.
