Any tips for riding in this area of France – or firms that do guiding in the region?

    Thanks in advance.

It's a lot like Wales, forests and dampness. Had a very wet fortnight there 4 years ago. Some good riding around the Ballons D'Alsace and the usual array of waymarked VTT routes centred around Gerardmer. The German side of the Rhine (Black Forest) is generally drier and nicer. No guiding companies that I know of.

GDRS- I live in Basel, so the South-Eastern Vosges are a regular riding spot for me. I know lots of trails there, and would be glad to show you around if I'm free (or failing that, send you some trail info). There is lots and lots and lots of lovely flowy singletrack.

pistonbroke- Vosges is considerably drier than Wales although it depends where you stay (Eastern side is rain-sheltered so gets much less rain than Western side).

Simply not true, but yes, Black Forest is great too.

    Ash –

That all sounds good. I have to work out some dates as work has pushed back on when I can take leave – but looking like back end of July.

Love to be shown around – but def take you up on route suggestions.

I can confirm that the route in the pictures above was fairly ok.
