Verbier and around is good. You’re allowed to cycle on most of the “footpaths” and the bike park links up nicely with the natural stuff.

ST Moritz and Davos have great deals for bikers with lifts, accommodation and bike hotels….

It is all set up so, if your fit enough, its possible to do 10,000m descent in a day.

All resonably priced so its not required to sell a kidney before going and places like the CO-OP have good cheap cafe’s

Switzerland is excellent for mtb, bike parks, natural trail/path riding and high level xc. With a fairly long walking season lifts esp cable cars are open longer than in france and the mountain railways run all year.

Ive biked a decent amount around Verbier (outstanding) and above Montreux and a bit further from your chosen area in Lenzerheide/Arosa (more in the Davos part of the country)

Ive hiked in Saint Luc (excellent Hotel Bella Rosa fyi) and skied there and in the very picturesque old villge of Grimentz – we visited again this summer. Ive not biked there but the Guardian featured a high level xc style ride in Saint Luc as one of its “10 best” trails and the Val d’Annivers is very dramatic. If you want something a bit off the beaten track then it could be an interesting option.

Will dig out some more info this evening

Verbier is amazing, and the surrounding area even better. http://www.bikeverbier.com do superb holidays with guiding on the trails around the resort and also further afield, well into the backcountry where no one else really goes. They use a van, pedalling and local access lifts. Stunning riding, and a great operation all round as they’ve been doing it for over a decade. Top guides, great grub, lovely chalet, but most of all go for the riding. They even do some stuff around Crans Montana – there’s an unforgettable hidden-away trail they ride there called Spanish Inquisition. Pretty much all their guiding is on mind-blowing stuff. Natural flowy singletrack like you wouldn’t believe, with loads of techy options if you like that sort of thing (they split their groups according to guests’ preferences). Lots of folk on here take holidays with BV – plenty of glowing testimonials if you look for them.

OP no doubt you’ll get the most value and riding out of a guided all inclusive holiday, Bike Verbier are very well regarded and sell out during the peak season fairly early in the year with many repeat guests. You can do a self guided / supported trip, that’s how I do it as usually I am spending less than a week riding and I like to do as much walking as riding. Based on your post I’d suggest you look at basing yourself in Crans-Montana and perhaps do an extra day or two in Val d’Annivers assuming you have a car. A visit to Grimentz is highly recommended to see the old village (an hour or so is enough). There are quite a lot of riding options around the Rhone valley but working out uplift (eg with post buses) takes knowledge and planning. A self guided holiday around Verbier is a bit more straightforward, we did a two resort trip between Chamonix and Verbier this year – they are about an hour apart by car.

One further thought if yiu are doing self guided take care as many ot the paths are quite remote and you may not see anyone else so dangerous if you fall. Also as walking paths are exactly that and as they are not designed for biking there can be some very sketchy/dangerous sections
