Getting a lift down to GT tomorrow but fancy doing the red at Innerleithen if possible.

Is there a route between the two that doesn’t involve going along the A72?

The sustrans app shows a route running south along the tweed. You have to go east along the A72 for 1km and then cross the tweed at Cardrona. http://www.sustrans.org.uk/map

You can bike on the B7062 to Cardrona then join the A72 for a short distance.

Not sure about forest roads or such like?

you can get from GT to cardrona offroad cross the river there and along the minor road to innerleithan.

There is an offroad path been put in but I don’t know how far it goes.

From GT carpark cross the main road, you will see a path ahead of you – follow that down to the river then go along the river to the bridge at cardrona – cross the river and on to the minor road on the south bank – unless the new path is continued along the river

You can do several routes to Innerleithen that dont involve the A72 – one has already been mentioned. Another is ducking off into the woods at the bottom of deliverance to Cardrona then picking up the above route. Yet another is to climb up to the radio mast and take fireroads down to the road that links Innerleithen to the A7 and a final one which involves going along the boundary trail, but not cutting back into the woods, but crossing the fence and following the ridge line along to Lee Pen before descending into Inners.

If you take a left (20 yards) descending from the radio mast on the black trail, there is an offroad path that takes you into the back of Inners past the golf course mostly on fire roads then the B709 for the last couple of miles

Ignore all that as this poster lives on the quantox and has never even been to Scotheggland.
