Not mine but unfortunately my mates. From Cotham area.

They were stolen from a locked garage and were well secured. So much so that they actually cut the frame of his Marin full sus and left a 2″ piece of frame and therefore the locks intact. I presume they were after the components so perhaps not much chance of seeing them again.

Anyway, description of the two bikes just in case

    – Marin Rift Zone 08 Small – pearl white, Fox Float 120R, Fox R, XT cranks & rear mech, Hayes Stroker Carbon brakes, LX front mech, LX shifters, Mavic 318 with hope XC hubs, specialised storm tyres. This was the frame that was cut through.

    – Marin Nail Trail 08 Large – orange Marzocchi Bomber forks (100mm ish), XT rear mech, Deore front, LX shifters, Mavic rims, Prowler tyres.

Any info to mail in my profile and I can pass it on. He’s pretty gutted about the Rift Zone as it was the special edition model and he cant get a replacement.

its worth logging them here, so the Police will have to admit its not just kids and junkies

Cheers, I’ll pass that onto him.

He went for a ride around Ashton Court last night and he woke up this morning and they were gone. Seems a bit too organised for just ‘kids’ if you ask me.

ell_tell – spot on, driving round Bristol with bikes on my car roof now makes me very nervous. So does keeping my bikes outside of my house, so I dont do it anymore, and wont until I either leave Bristol or get my shed properly alarmed. The closer you are to the Glos Rd, the worse it seems to be.

    F==king scum, they really are.

    Hi

I may be jumping the gun but I saw a group of lads in Blaise castle one of whom was riding a white marin with white fox forks. another lad was riding what looked like a kinesis maxlight though didn’t get a good look. I work in El-dub and have seen them in the area before

It was the Marin which caught my eye.

Of course they could be keen mountainbikers and I apologise if they are.

Sorry just re-read OP. He’d obviously knicked this off someone else

My mate had also parked his car bumper right up against the garage door and they still managed to break in so lessons so a warning to anyone thinking this may prevent a potential break in.

I wonder how long it will be before premiums on bike insurance for bristol are sky high…

Hi Ell, I’m the guy who updates the blog mentioned above. I’ll happily post the descriptions you’ve put up and if your mate has any pictures of the Nail Trail my email’s in my profile.

Sorry to hear of another theft on my old patch.
Antony, well done mate, that’s some very good work going on – it’s a site that’s sorely needed. I’m glad to see you’re getting results 8)

Forgot to say, register the intact bike on http://www.immobilise.com – agentdagnamit had a stolen frame returned that way.

Gutted to hear about your mate’s frame being cut up, not least because it’s going to make it a lot harder to trace the components. You could try saving some of the bits as a favourite search on eBay. If enough of them are listed by the same seller then it could give the cops something to go on.

Thanks for the info and the offer Anthony. Have passed all the details ont my mate. Not sure if he has any pics unfortunately but if he does then he’s got your details to pass them onto.

    Cheers
