I’m shortly in the market for a new car, so I thought it might be good to get something more appropriate for bike haulage.

    My critera are:
    – At least 5 seats, preferably more
    – Able to accomodate 4 adults, 4 bikes and luggage inside the vehicle.
    – Not too much longer/wider than a family car, e.g. mondeo
    – When the bikes are in the back they are obscured – i.e. I can leave it parked out of sight and not worry too much about some scrote stealing the contents.
    – Diesel, though with what I’m specifying that’s probably a given
    – Can be acquired 2-3 years old for around the 10k mark, or less.
    – I don’t want one of those silly 4×4 things. I live in England so they are unnecessary for 99.9% of the population, including me.

    Suggestions very much appreciated, thanks.

Think your looking at a T4/5 kombi or similar….

    Four bikes? = Van.

So that’ll be a cab-in-van/crewcab to start, space for 4 bikes means a Vivaro/Transit is your starting size. Still roughly within the size of a Mondeo.

Had a T5 for about 6 months now. Got seats fitted in it and I can carry 6 people and easily get 6 bikes in. It is a long wheel base. Best vehicle I have ever owned
