Bike storage in your flat, how do you store yours?
I used to use a floor to ceiling stand like this.
Saves having to make a permanent mount for something in a rented flat, plus it stops the walls getting covered in handlebar/tyre marks.Posted 7 years agobillysanMember
I live in a second floor 2 bed flat. The GF’s and my road bike live in the hall ballanced on a couple of those ultimate support stands. My MTB is in the living room on a towel between the dining table and back wall. Her MTB is locked up to the railings in the shared stairwell!
I have a pretty understanding missus who also likes bikes luckily! We would use the spare room but have a lodger in there at present.Posted 7 years agosimon_gSubscriber
Saris Bike Bunk leaning against the wall. We manage to get 4 bikes in that space though, three on the bottom – one against the wall, one actually on the stand, then one outside the hanging one.
If it was my own flat and drilling/marking the walls wasn’t an issue, I’d go for hooks and hang them vertically.Posted 7 years agomansonsoulMember
I use a few bug hooks from b and q. I hang the bikes from their front wheels with the left pedals taken off, the handlebars turned sideways and an old sock over the crank against the wall. Our town bikes then just get propped against the wall. It works well for us.Posted 7 years agoPimpmaster JazzMember
Shared space, but got one of the Aldi jobbees ready to build.
They were on old towels over plastic sheeting, but as they’re all clean at the moment and the flat is on the market they’ve been allowed to stand on the carpet (or moved to my sister’s garage).
Hopefully be moving fairly soon tho…Posted 7 years ago
Really liking the idea of the aldi bike stand, the mtb will be for sale when I get around to sorting that out, so it’s just the roady bike. (3 flights of stairs carrying the bike post ride is a royal pain, but we’re in here for at least 6 months so i got to just get on with it)Posted 7 years agostuartie_cMember
Been looking at this too and had my eye on one of the Minoura ones from Wiggle
Has anyone used one similar and had 3 bikes on it, one above the other? It does say it’ll hold up to 4 bikes but I’m not sure if that means two each side. I want 3 on one side which might make it a bit unstable.
I’ve done the measurements and 3 bikes will stack one above the other quite happily (9′ 8″ ceiling height!)Posted 7 years agobillysanMember
I stopped at Aldi on my way home from work last night. They had 1 stand left! I put it together last night and it seems pretty good. My missus isnt so keen though as it sticks out a bit far to hang a pair of road bikes from. It seems better suited to MTB’s. Plenty sturdy enough though.
So, Im going to take it back after today for a refund – unless someone on here would like it and cant find one? Just want £30 back for it, ie what I paid. Im in high Wycombe/Reading.Posted 7 years ago
