    A colleague sidled up to me at work and said he wants to start gentle cycling, and has about £500 to spend. He sounds like he wants a hybrid.

    The problem is where to get it from, as he lives on the opposite side of the city from me and I don’t know the shops down there.

    Anyone able to recommend?

    bike shak in altrincham is the best shop in that area by far.

    I’m a fan of Ken fosters in Chorlton for that price bracket. My wife went in there and bought her own bike independently of me and ended up with something suitable.

    Awful thing is for £500 he’s best off going to Decathlon at Stockport pyramid roundabout on the M60.
