    Afternoon all.
Is the go-to accommodation for BPW still the Premier Inn at the bottom of the hill? Or is there a more bike friendly place thats also within a short ride of the park?

    We stayed here: http://tunnelcottages.co.uk/
Literally 1.5 miles from the start of all of the BPW runs…..get your first run down for free then pay at the desk when you get there for the rest of the day:-)

We stayed in Cardiff , approx. 30mins away by car. Main reason was lots of places to go for evening beers etc. We nearly went for the Premier in nearby, but glad we did not.

Sounds practical for a short ride to the park… 😉

Travelodge in merthyr was cheap and allowed bikes in the rooms. That tunnel cottage sounds cool. Less fun when you have to ride back.

We love The Castle, clean, friendly, hilarious interior.
Next door to a great pub, walk to kebab or curry house.

Actually, ‘love’ might be overdoing it.
    Maybe ‘find acceptable’.

Which Castle – the one in Merthyr? There seem to be a loads of places named Castle in the area 🙂

Thanks to Midweek Madness race series We’ve won a stay at the Castle Lodge in Tredegar – not been yet but looks OK and very recently modernised. https://www.thecastlelodge.co.uk/

Twin Trails is very bike friendly, they’ve got basic tools, cleaning facilities and the bikes live in the lounge.

    1.5 miles from BPW.

    Parking is on-street though.

I’ve used Taff Trail Bunkhouse once and it’s pretty good. Secure bike storage, cooking facilities and kit washing.

All other times, Travelodge. Bike in the room, telly, bog, and 2 mins to Aldi.

4 of us stayed at Castle Lodge in Tredegar last July. Had a whole newly decorated and furnished apartment to ourselves. Secure car parking and bike lockup – was about £30 each. 20 min drive from BPW – would use again. Tony who runs it is a top guy too. Tredegar itself is a shithole mind – ate in Spoons as pretty much the only option – everyone seemed absolutely shitfaced too – keep your head down and it’s bearable – no worse than Merthyr!

We stayed here a couple of times when going to BPW. Set up for bikers with secure bike store & a bike wash or we’ve also had the bikes in the house. Cheap, clean and comfortable. You can ride to the park from there in about 10 mins but we drove to take extra kit in the car. Guy who owns it lives next door and could be more helpful and always up for a chat and a beer across the back fence!

+1 for Twin Trails. Fantastic breakfast and really biker friendly. Mounds of complementary old newspapers and very understanding of what wet cold mountain bikers need. Only B&B I’ve ever been to where they lay out towels for the bikes.

Yes. Pleasant enough site although was full of school kids when we stayed. Fair old walk into Merthyr so it’s a taxi if you want a pub.

We stayed in a really nice Airbnb. 3 bedrooms and they let you keep your bikes inside. 5 min drive or 15 min ride to the bike park. It’s called Ty Hayland.

I’ve stayed a few times at Colliers house (airbnb) which is in Abercanaid which is few minutes from BPW towards Methyr. House sleeps 4 fine, has off road secure parking at the back for two cars, hose in the garden, allowed to keep bikes inside and is generally a nice well equipped modern house. The owner is really nice and runs a pub round the corner cant fault it at all.

Never had an issue with the Premier Inn, cheap as chips if you book in advance and ask for a ground floor room. They never have a problem with bikes in rooms either. Pub across the car park is okay.
