Just found my alpkit bar bag and it appears to have been a mouse hotel for the winter!

Has anyone seen any deals for a decent dry bag/harness style one?

Blackburn Outpost in slight sale at CRC

Well-recommended from what I have seen. I have the Outpost frame bag and top tube bag and quality is good for the price IMO

Had a pod sac one… bag ripped open in the first trip, never again haha

I have the Blackburn Outpost and it is very good. The mount holds the harness and stuff sack away from the bars and stops the brake hoses and gear cable from being crushed.
It is very stable in use as well.

Seems decent for under £20 and I know their seat bags are well regarded.

I’m waiting for someone to come out with a 780mm, 20deg sweep, loop bar, without a niche tax.

The loop on something like a Confucious or Mickey bar adds less weight than a lot of bag holders, and you can simply stack a couple of bags top and bottom (e.g. bivi and sleeping mat) with no wobble, rubbing or anything else. If you just want normal-shaped bars then those are definitely worth a look.

I’ve not got on with my Geoff bars on a trail bike but want to try them on a more XC geometry before writing them off completely.

I ve got one, its fine but at only 3ltr capacity you wont get much in it.

Shame they don’t do the bigger size dry bag in the bar bag format.

I like the ones with a proper cradle / harness (I have a Salsa Anything Cradle) but can’t you just buy one of the alpkit xtra dry bags to go with your existing harness? I’ve used one of those for a few trips with no drama.

Must be made of different stuff to mine as its very hard wearing, heavy though, you’d have to go some to rip it.

This arrived today. It’s got plenty room in it. Not fitted it to the bike yet but I’ve been impressed with everything else I’ve bought from the recently.

Salsa anything cradle, a bit heavy and expensive but no messing about with annoying straps and as it bolts on your bars it stays put.

Good to know. I was thinking of replacing my cheapo Lidl roll-bag/harness as it swings a little and doesn’t feel that stable when I put a 2kg tent in there. I may be overly-fussy but I like things packed down tightly and to stay put.
