  • Bike Box or Bag For Flying?

I’m heading away for a week of riding in the sunshine (hopefully) in January and was wondering about how to take the bike.

What’s the best option, a hard box like a Bike Box Alan box or a soft bag like an Evoc?
It’s for a road bike if that makes any difference.

I’ll probably hire something for the week but if I find something cheap enough I might look at buying one.

I bought a Evoc bag about five years ago and have not looked back since. Great bag, I can pack the bike into it far faster and the level of protection is much better than others I had before (Dakine case, soft cases and cardboard box). This is mainly due to the way it deals with the wheels. It is also great to wheel around and has handles in the right places when you need to lift it.

Not cheap but worth it IMO. Think there are some people on EBay who hire them for a week.

I’m also in the market for one, Evoc is ticking all the boxes but I just need to decide whether to hire or buy…
