    Whats the safest/easiest way of getting a SFN out of a steerer tube?

    Punch it through.

    Just push it down out of the way. Don’t think there’s much chance of getting it out.

    If they’re fox forks you won’t be able to punch it through as the steerer is tapered inside.

    drill out the soft alloy centre

    nuke it from orbit. it’s the only way to be sure.

    drill out the centre with the fork in a vice worked for me.

    if they’re second hand forks there’s normally at least two more lurking underneath though where people have followed trailmonkeys advice.
