For a Nexus 7. Thinking of using the tablet as an e-reader for the hols.

Is the standard Kindle app the best for this sort of use or bettered by another?

    TIA

Kindle’s good and what I usually use. There are quite a lot of good, free books available. It’s good for syncing across multiple androids/kindles too so you can read a book on your tablet and then on your phone if you’re stuck somewhere with nothing to do.

    CoolReader works well too.

Try moon reader – loads of customisation options. Way better than the Kindle app.

Kindle’s great, as clubber points out it’ll sync across multiple devices which can be handy. It also supports DRM free books, use something like Calibre to sync from your PC. AFAIK Amazon’s shop is still the market leader for a reason, if you’re interested in the latest releases they’re most likely to be there before anywhere else.

I also use Aldiko, works fine, and has a decent range of free books.

Cheers all. Presume they all display books the same and ease of reading text is the same across all 3?

Pretty much. Try them out. They’re all free.
