Have an Ebauer multi-set but I’m after replacement PZ2’s

Best as in good, not artisan rolled on the thighs of a virgin, I’ve got a tenner.

I think it’s Sealey we’re supplied with at work. Wouldn’t say they’re the best, but they are fairly robust. They’re consumables so they’ll wear/break eventually like all the rest.

Wera Impaktor would be my choice.

those dewalt ones aren’t impact bits.

large tub of ebauer ones is where I normally go. They each explode after maybe doing 200+ screws? don’t seem to have any issues before that though. Great VFM

The black DeWalt long shank ones are fine.
Wera are great but costly.
More important is making sure you use the right shape bit pz2 ph2 ect

Makita bits seem to have a terrible rep

My Makita drill is very good, but the bits are poor for sure…

I’ve got a box of those from before I owned an impact driver. Still half of them left, but the question is, is the impact version worth double the price?

I got some Saxton ones off Amazon a couple of years ago. No complaints from me. £8 for a pack of 10.

Edit – they’re 50mm long ones.

I used a pack of those Screwfix Dewalt ones a few months ago, and got through them at a frightning rate. They don’t seem great to me.

I use those dewalt non impact ones and find them to be OK. Just general assembly, 40mm ish screws (which Is what I’d expect for a PZ2). I’ve tried a few specialist impact bits and not found them to be any better. I’d rather have a big pack bits that last OK but are cheap-ish enough to just swap out once they get a bit worn and those £5.99 dewalts are about at the sweet spot. They tend to go when I’m being ham fisted or trying to force a screw out at an angle because I can’t get the driver in a tight spot.

For bigger screws or harder materials then I’ll usually go for a torx.

The saxton ones are ok actually lost a pack of those in the house now you have jogged my memory about those.

If you’ve got pz2 screws do you really need to use an impact driver to get them in? Surely a battery drill with normal bits will suffice

In all fairness a pilot hole and drill driver is correct I even pilot hole 5×2 studs but for rough work and fixing stuff to walls with plugs impact all the way

W(ho)TF still uses pozi bits and screws?

Torx or, better still Assy Würth screws and bits.

Surprised people still use pozi bits and screws.

The only time I use them is on piano hinges due to the tiny head.

Torx Is getting more popular and will take over I’m sure. The masonry frame fixing I use are torx

I gave up on non-impact ones when the big box of Dewalt ones were lasting between 1 and 10 screws before exploding.

The Wera ones have lasted 12 months of DIY use, and I’m still on the first one of five out of the pack.

Thanks all, like I say DIY jobs so:

1. I’ve got lazy and just use the impact driver to wallop in anything of size rather than use the drill driver or even pilot hole

2. Readily available Posi screws are just my go to. We spec torx for small self tapping jobs into plastic casework at work but I’d not seen the shift DIY based to them for placing noggins etc

Although there was a big set of torx wood screws in Lidl a while back, I thought at the time how many people buy these for someone without them probably having a torx bit

Usually they come with one.
I hate torx personally.

I have the Dewalt impact bits which don’t seem to periodically explode any more than any others I’ve used.

Saxton are good for the money.
