Going to be in Kielder for other reasons but hope to take the bike even though I have only one day to ride. What’s the best route or combination of routes for a single day’s entertainment in the forest or very near?
ps not Newcastleton as I have done that v. recently

Kielder itself has loads for you to go at.

Deadwater side, if you want to do trailcentre stuff- don’t do the top loop though, it’s pish- fireroad climb for what is basically a fireroad descent! A fairly fun, smashed up fireroad, but still. Lots of effort for not that much reward.

Kielder gets a bad rep but the deadwater black and red are great fun. Into the Valley’s a superb descent IMO and it has a black graded climb, what could be better 😉

Oh- check for closures though, it had loads recently.

Depending on fitness, a combo of the Lonesome Pine, Deadwater (minus the top climb/descent) and Osprey trails is do-able. Just under 50km in total, with just under 1000m of climbing.

Oh, and only the Kersey Cleugh section on the Deadwater trail was closed yesterday (and the Up and Over black section has reopened).
