Sad news today, the King Of Blues has died.

Thanks for the music and I’m pleased to have made those live gigs in Edinburgh under the castle walls…

I remember watching the documentary and then the film ‘When we were Kings’ and I saw BB Kings performance. It made my hair stand on end. His expressions/everything. Genius.

rick, I was there in Princes Street gardens too, right in front of BB sitting at the front of the stage. It felt really special. Off to listen to him now…the thrill is gone.

Saw him playing in Nashville once. Awestruck by the performance.

Going to play some blues in the office today.

I too was at the Princes gardens gig, I also saw him a few years earlier at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow where I had the privilege to shake his hand.

A true artist who seemed to love his work.

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B.B._King

Over a period of 64 years, King has played in excess of 15,000 performances.

    That’s hard graft.

Playing Nobody Loves Me But My Mother now, his voice, Lucille and the band, there’s nothing like it.

RIP. Extraordinary talent. We’ve lost a few real greats recently.

Getting old sucks, to many great musicians, actors and just good entertainers are going.

    RIP BB King

I’m incredibly grateful that I had the chance to see him supported by Gary Moore in Birmingham a number of years ago. Both incredible musicians and so passionate about their art. RIP.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😥

I had the privilege of seeing him play, front row, supporting the legendary Gary Moore.

The world has lost one of the most charismatic bluesmen who’d thrilled millions when he played with other top class musicians. A humble man.

    RIP BB King

Never heard him play live, but I’ve partied in BB King’s Blues Club on the (in)famous Beale St in Memphis and visited Indianola on the same trip.

I was thinking earlier about this..are we ‘replacing’ them with the same calibre too?

One example James Brown went- who would we class as similar nowadays?

89, a good innings, definitely made the most of those years. Shall be playing some today.

Music doesn’t have the same importance it did back then, so no, it’ll be extremely rare to see a major new talent appear in the music scene (Bruno Mars excepted).

    What a legend.

That stat of 15,000 performances over 64 years is amazing!

    That’s 4.5 nights a week for 64 years!
