Highlands, Scotland – Another weekend, another adventure. With our plans for an outing at Glenlivet thwarted by road closures, we were forced to come up with a last minute backup plan. Anything South was looking unlikely with the snow so we cast our eyes west.
A Torridon loop I knew was off the cards but something like that on a smaller scale was precisely what we were looking for – so I proposed a loop above Achnashellach.
If you have the opportunity to do this route, I can’t recommend it enough. The descent alongside River Lair is by far some of the most technical natural singletrack I’ve ridden, set on a stunning canvas.
Unfortunately I’ve no photo’s to share of the descent but there is footage available: http://youtu.be/swNsMUjLBuk
Finally made it back to Glenlivet yesterday. Despite a major mechanical we had a great time, and the trails were in good condition. Really enjoyed the flow through Spooky Wood and Ankers Alley but I didn’t quite get as many photos as I’d hoped.
