Call it getting old, getting sensible, going soft, becoming a father…… List could go on but I’m looking for a back protector. Mainly want something for uplift and the odd enduro race. But I’m not a big fan of pads always seem to go to my thinnest poc knee pads, hate wearing gloves. So I’m guessing when I comes to back protection I’m looking g for something minimal like the look of the fox base frame Pro vest but not sure if the protection is worthwhile?

The bluegrass lite ones do look light. I got a d30 b&s the other week, it’s fairly bulky compared with nowt but it’s nowhere near as big as I feared. It’s not going under an XC or road Jersey though!

Fit is a bit short (everyone’s seem to be on their charts) and pretty snug. I’m 6’4, 80kg and went for the XL, think I could have gotten away with a Xxl if it existed for a better ballance of length and figure hugging.

The main reason I went with the bluegrass was they were small for the length mind. Most manufacturers only did a long ish one in what would have been too loose a fit.

ordered a couple of other ones to check at a similar time so may have a useful opinion on those.

Yeah the bluegrass ones look OK. Think I like the look of the fox one but the lack of zip puts me off.

Anyone used a alpinestars paragon vest? Or one of the Troy Lee vests

Mine were all too tight. So I’m sticking with the snug 661 old school on for my stuff.

    I’ve a dainese trailknit pro.
I haven’t had any other to compare it to.
The shoulder pads are nice and airy, the back gets warm (possibly they all do). I’ve had it about 6 months and there are a few loose stitches appearing where I’ve removed the back protector for washing which isnt very impressive.

If buying again I’d get a vest with a zip, as taking it off is a struggle.
