I’ve just acquired a projector with a dvi socket and was hoping to use ourit with my sky hd box and ps3. Got a Belkin hdmi to dvi cable today and have connected it up but get no picture from either box using it. The projector recognises the signal but shows a message saying for best results switch to xga (lower) resolution and no picture. I’ve tried 720p etc from both boxes but no dice.

I’m thinking the projector may not be hdcp compliant but have found reviews online where people mention using ps3s with them. Is it possible that the cable I bought is faulty? Sounds unlikely, I know.

Hdcp handshake problems most likely.

Can’t really help out but there are gizmos you can plug in the cable path to strip hdcp protection. I assume you are using optical out for sound from the sky box?
