It’s my dad’s birthday next weekend. Unfortunately he’s terminally ill and his sight / mental capacity failing as part of that.
So, a difficult one to buy for…
Anyway we thought of maybe getting him a few audio comedy CDs.
Searched on Amazon but didn’t really find a lot…any recommendations?
Would need to be on CD, no streaming

Ps he’s not particularly fond of audio books (don’t know why)

See if you can find the Terry Wogan ‘Janet and John’ recordings. Difficult situation to recommend for, but those were always really funny and popular.

There’s loads including the Dad’s Army & Steptoe & Son radio versions. My Wife listens to a fair few and rates Cabin Pressure very highly.

    +1 for Ed Reardon.

See if you get the original Alan Partridge Knowing Me Knowing You, Radio show. Great stuff, though a bit Marmite for some.

Ebay is a good source of (dubious) MP3 recordings of Dad’s army and the like. I think you can burn them to audio CDs but may be less hassle to buy him an MP3 player (maybe he could use a smartphone).

Does he really not like ebooks or has he not found any he likes? – again lots on ebay.

Sorry to hear he is so ill.

I have a distant memory of listening to Monty Python love at Drury Lane on vinyl. I imagine it must have existed in cd form at some point

The original Alan Partridge KMKYWAP Radio 4 series are on iPlayer and sounds for free, but also available on CD (eBay and Amazon). They were the early ones, so rather less marmite than the later versions of the show on TV.

I Partridge, We Need To Talk About Alan and Nomad are on Audible if the radio series above prove to be a hit.

    Hope that helps.
