    If you want Chinese (not UK style soupy slop but fresh mountain style) Gok Wan’s book is good as he shows you how and why so in the future you can freestyle nom nom tastic

    Rick Steins Far Eastern Odessey.

    Superb recipes from all over the region.

    I can’t recommend it enough.

    Charmaine Solomon’s Asian cookbook is the best I have found, we have been using it for 20 years. It is probably out of print now, but you should be able to find a copy on the net.

    Try and get Charles Phan’s book from the Slanted Door in San Francisco, you won’t go wrong with it.

    +1 for Rick Stein. Made many recipes from that book, some of the best for me are the Vietnamese dishes and the salads!
