As in, are they all the same thickness? I have an issue with the adapter *just* fouling the disc, and meaning caliper is set furthest out on slots to accommodate, again causing rub on inside slot of caliper. It may even be that the Mavic hub is a *mm* wider – as it seems to sit better with my hope wheels in.
    Spec. Hardrock/Mavic Crossmax/Unnamed adapter/SLX caliper combo.

Or the PMs aren’t quite in the right place?

There is some difference in thickness in the ones in my spares box

    That is what I thought.

No it is IS (frame) to PM, and the side of the mount catches the rotor.

Not all are equal – as you have found out.

This is what files were invented for 🙂

That still leaves the mounting holes too far inboard of frame. 🙁 new mount time.

No, some are more equal than others !

generic ones seem to be universal front to back as the caliper (PM) holes are in the centre.

Shimano ones are different (apart from the obvious +20mm difference) as the caliper holes on one (can’t remember if it’s the front or rear) are not drilled in the centre of the adapter thickness.

I’ve filed IS mounts on a SC Blur frame to get Magura brakes to fit properly.

No, just because a certain type of brake on a certain type of fork mount with a certain type of rotor size should obviously take a certain type of adaptor.. it certainly doesn’t always certainly work. Pain in the ass.

(me repeating certain, not the adaptor problem)

You could use a Hope facing tool to remove so.e material from the frame mounts. That would then keep everything in line and be less random than I file.

Avid ones are pretty narrow in my experience
