I bought a bike with a CK BB. Its for 24mm axle and its threaded.
I thought i would service the bearings. The grease injector tool and idea seems to have been dropped by CK so now they show service by popping off the snap ring and seal and using an non citrus degreaser on the bearing whilst it is in the BB cup.
I have to say it looks a really bodged fix, and it seems it would be much easier to remove the BB cips from the frame and have proper access to clean and regrease.
Does anyone do it like this? Or do you extract the cups from the frame? If so, whats the best tool to remove them?

    Thanks

Hi Pete, thanks but im in Snowdonia!

Do you remove the cup from the frame to clean and regrease the bearings?

Im guessing i need the CK tool to do remove them properly?

To remove the cup from the frame any brand will suffice but I also have the CK one.

I mostly leave the cup in the fram for regressing. The process with the regressing tool pushes out the old stuff which I just wipe away.

    No de-greasing at all

The CK BB in use is over tan year old and still running smoothly on the original bearings. I think its now in its fourth bike…….

    I use both !!

But for removing/fitting the cups other brands of tool will also work.Just make sure you have it seated in the cup properly before applying any force.
