Had a LOT of these things in the bathroom lately and not sure what they are. There’s normally a few in the morning but at around 8-9pm there can be 50+ of them, and they seem to appear out of nowhere.. I have put the plugs in and taped up overflows but they don’t seem to be coming from there.

Have poured a fair few different drain cleaning/unblocking products down the plugs/drains with no success.

The one pictured is probs the size of a twenty pence piece all in and looks like a baby daddy long legs. They make a high pitch noise when they fly (wings I think). Anyone have any idea what it is and how to stop this happening? Getting sick of vacuuming/splatting them nou.

    Cheers.

    Harmless mosquito.

Open the window and let them out.

That’ll be a mosquito, then. Hope your malaria jabs are up to date. 😉

They breed in standing water. Got a water butt? Pond?

Just to be different…Crane Fly….as I cant see if it’s got a long proboscis or not.

If it is a mossie, don’t worry it won’t give you Dengue or Malaria (yet, maybe in 2030).

It’s what I would call a baby long legs 😆

No, they are definitely bigger and made of wood. That other thing is clearly not made of wood.

    Looks like they’re mossies then!

No pond and no water butts but they must becoming from the drain just outside the bathroom… Drain doesn’t seem to be blocked.

Anyone got suggestions on how to solve the issue?

    Mosquito? Harmless?!!!! Hardly!!

Nasty horrible biting things will try to eat you alive. And if they don’t manage that, they’ll be flying in low all guns blazing and blowing things up, no doubt.

Mossie, they are evil, evil I tell thee!

I am currently (no word of a lie) sporting over 55 mossie bites on my feet and legs. It’s driving me that mad I have given serious thought to cutting my legs off at the knee!

Stupid pond, stupid water reserve next door and stupid sun for making me sit out in the evenings.

I crashed my bike at the weekend, front wheel wash out at the bottom of a drop off, left hand side of my body is bruised all over, left hand swollen and painful. But the worst thing is the mossie bite on my right hand. It ITCHES, it just won’t stop… Evil **** things.

Wipe them out, all of them.

I suggest you burn your house down if you find this …

Aedes aegypti (notice the black and white ring legs)

Vulnerable people are children and old people.

Where I used to live in the far east they come up at different seasons … can’t remember which now.

It’s almost certainly wings they’re flying with, yes. HTH.
