Very strange one.
Had a set of tapered forks with the OE tapered headset, but couldn’t get a reducer crown race for new forks. So now i’m running normal 1&1/8th forks in a tapered headtube.
Bike is the new standard ZS tapered headtube (55.9mm ID lower cup, 44ID upper cup).
Hope do a specific headset and the relevant reducer crown race to make it work.
However, i’ve been trying to fit it today, top cup goes in fine, but the lower cup sat way to proud of the headtube on looks alone when offering it up. Tried it anyway, just to make sure, and there is no way on earth it’s going in without some serious damage being caused…
So I popped in to work to pick up some digital verniers, and measured the headtube, which is as near as damn it bang on 55.9 ID. Time to measure the Hope lower cup & that is 57.1mm?? 1.2mm out on a high tolerance press fit item is pretty shocking.
Has anyone else experienced this?
