Thought the mower was snoozing until Spring ? but after the recent mild weather the grass is quite long.

The old push mower is great for a quick trim. Anyone else having to mow?

I need to. It’ll be 6ft tall by spring if not!

I had a brief trip down to my Mum’s midweek and I had to get the lawnmower out – the garden actually needed more of a napalm strike than a lawnmower but it was just about dry enough to cut. My Mum is really frail so she usually has to get a neighbour to do the mowing but it’s been so wet recently that it had all just been left to grow.

Hopefully it’ll be good until Spring now.

Yes, keep on cutting every other week usually on a longish setting until it gets frosty, next week maybe, then forget it until spring.

cut it this week otherwise the dog is reluctant to go and do his business on it – but cut it a bit too short I think.

Had to book a collection as the council has come off the summer schedule.

Not cutting so much, but I’ll be trying to run the mower over it reasonably often to make enough noise that might, in a doubtless vain attempt, keep the mole away…

I would do but it’s too long and wet to cut with a manual cylinder mower. Might have to strim it instead.

Was just looking at it yesterday. If it’s dry tomorrow I’ll probably go over it again.

Maybe in morning if I get round to it.

Cut mine just over a week ago when it was nice and dry. It’s too wet now but if it’s dry enough at some point it will get cut again. It the moss that’s more of an issue for me.  Pulled out the old electric scarifier last week and wondered why it was not gathering the moss only to discover that there was only a solitary prong left and the rest had rusted and snapped off. I had put lawn sand down so it’s a bit black looking in places now. A new scarifier is now top of my Christmas list.

Mowed and leaf collection last week.

    It’s bloody grown again.

But frosty this morning and due snow on Tuesday…

A full on of leaf collection and grass yesterday. It tidies up the garden even if it doesn’t cut much grass. We have a lot of leaves.

Yup, well the robot mower is, still send it out every 7-10 days now. Keep threatening to pack it away for winter but grass still needs a cut

Yes, unfortunately, probably the latest ever but there again we’ve still got sweetpeas and other flowers out. The wild areas had their one and only cut in September but there are other areas that I keep shorter so that we can keep it clean for our grandson. I’m going to clean the mower later and it’s not coming out again this year!

Yep. I think I’ve just rolled the ol’ JP Maxees back into the shed for hibernation, marking its 58th year of service. ( not all for me, I’ll add)

I’ve been meaning to do the last cut of the year for ages, I either get distracted or it rains which just clogs the mower. Looks dry tomorrow so hopefully it’ll be done then I don’t have to worry about it for a few months. Absolutely hate doing garden work!

Old school natural method (before robot mowers;) we (SO;) stick the guinea pigs out in a run on the grass, so we should get block squares like you see on the world cup footie….except the little blighters don’t eat the grass in straight lines:)…they also fertilise the grass at the same time, win, win!!

Yep, just cut it today – I am sure that will be the last time until spring now though, especially as I have now got rid of almost all of the fallen leaves.

I need to cut ours, but it’s probably going to rain tomorrow. Will leave the wild area though as it’s still got a few wild flowers growing.

Cut mine last week – been mowing every week since the biblical rainy period we had stopped. Looks like it’s getting colder and wetter this week so that’s quite possibly the last cut of 2024.

Yes, Mrs. P cut ours middle of this week. Seems crazy having to be cutting it in November. It should be under snow by now!*

*OK I may be a little optimistic but I can always hope

I am thinking yesterday’s late aftenoon high cut will be the last this year. Fuel tank run dry, then alkylate fuel added and run for a few minutes ready for the winter dormancy.

Plenty of leaves left to fall so the plastic rake will be out again.

Cut it last week and as it’s been dry will have to do another tomorrow. Doubt that’s the last for the year either. #livinthedream.

I wasn’t for doing it but neighbour got back from Spain and butchered the front back down the the moss.

My last cut was the start of October and there is not a chance in heck I’ll cut it again this year
