A week ago it was 5 years since I lost my grandad.

I don’t expect one Of you to give half a liquid ****.

    BUT

I was reminded that as of 28th of December last year the world had been without lemmy for five full years.

I miss the nicest guy in rock n roll.

His contempt for people who tried to manipulate and twist religion, politics, music etc for their personal agenda was always a pleasure to behold.

He was an imperfect perfect human being.

Question – why do you play a punk song like God Save the Queen Lemmy?

Lemmy – because its a great song dickhead.

Sorry to hear about your personal anniversary. Many people do care, it’s just we weren’t lucky enough to know your grandad, but we can all relate to your loss.

Yip. Lemmy’s insight, music and lyrics were inspirational. His lifestyle was medicine defying right to the end!

He enjoyed life on his terms.
He didn’t want to hurt people doing it.
    He was unerringly honest.
    He was truly funny.
    He was unique.

What a loss. I properly discovered him too late in my life, but I managed to see Motorhead several times live and YouTube is full of interviews with him where his charisma and charm are truly inspiring.

I hope you have great memories of your Grandad too OP.

    Love this clip:

And I love to rewatch this just to hear the awesomeness. And I don’t really like Motörhead music!!

A sound engineer I flat shared with worked with him. He was very impressed with how they knew their stuff and would whizz through getting an album done over a weekend. He used to come home on a Monday and might not emerge till Wednesday.

I saw them at the O2 in Leeds – what a performance.

Was due to see them again at Newcastle (I think) but sadly that didn’t happen.

He had the greatest, most factual way to start a gig.

Met and worked with him a few times as road crew.
A real gent and an excellent showman and great story teller.

    Yes, I miss him.

‘Legend’ is a much overused term, especially in Rock ‘N Roll, but Lemmy absolubtly deserves the title. Caught him them a few years before the end, so glad I did.

Started playing Bass last year as a lockdown thing and that intro from Ace of Spades is so just so simple but so viscerally satisfying with a ton of dirty dirty distortion over the top.

    RIP big man.

The Lemmy episode of the Dead Rock Stars podcast is worth a listen (as are the others).

Saw him several times in the 80s, not a massive fan, but they played Cambridge quite a lot back then.

My fave MH song is a cover…

Interesting to consider his legacy…his ability to destroy sublime band line ups? He got fired from Hawkwind just at the point they were writing their best ever material. Then there was Eddie Clarke, who left over his insistence to go a record with Wendy o Williams. Motörhead was never the same again. And what was going on with him wearing nazi uniforms?
Anyway, Motörhead at Southampton gaumont on the ace of spades tour….best gig I’ve been too….,

Ditto the above. Saw them ‘back in the day’ when Brian Robertson was on guitar. They were quite frankly rubbish. The support act Anvil (of recent documentary fame) were far more entertaining.
