Not really custom but I’ve like these for a while and rare enough to meet the STW ‘built by man in shed’ criteria .

Anyone like the flat tracker style?

Yeah, that’s something else I’ve considered. Brendan Fairclough had one built I think. I’m sure there’s a video on pinkbike of him riding it somewhere. Was a lovely looking machine.

It has been posted before but there are some cracking cafe racer pics on here

Great site. After gawping at those images I feel even more inspired to start a build. I think I’m going to opt for a cb350. You can pick up a rusty old example for not too much.

Yes. Every time a thread like this comes up I’m straight on ebay looking for something suitable.

I have the perfect spot for a dirttrack oval…

Luckily I haven’t found anything suitable yet. What with the 6 bikes I have already…

Here’s a real cafe racer for you

Currently doing a little work to the rear end and can’t wait to get back out on it in spring. Of all my bikes this is my favourite

    S1 lightning!
Just kidding 😆 it’s an xb ,it would criminal to break an S1.
I’ve seen a couple of lovely X1s going for the Norley frame, shame really because I really like them, prefer them to the S1 to be honest.

I’ll keep mine as it at the moment, fun bike but a lot of headaches at times.
This would be a nice project for an xb[/url]

At the bike show last week at the NEC there was a gorgeous CX550 special, could call it a cafe racer I guess, best looking piece of kit there apart from the new Huskies.

Can’t find any photos of it sadly.

it will be this one. I was all over it like a rash, The wrenchmonkey CX was on my list to build next year, but I may have a change of mind

    the one at the show

hell of a lot of work gone into it.

    the wrenchmonkey one

I may not bother at all and just get one of these Ducati’s, as I seem to have no time at all lately

i am starting to make this – bought all the tubes and a shiny new tube bender (At vast expense!) it is based on one of these

gs500 – the motor has the looks – i think a cafe racer should be a parallel air cooled twin on carbs – but the frame is horrible. the idea is a gs500 with an mot is about 600 quid, whereas a popular cafe racer donor bike (sr500 etc) is about that for something they just pulled out of a lake

This will finally get started on once the ZX 7R has been sold, various changes to be done swingarm, wheels, RS125 seat unit (if I can get it to match properly and follow lines of tank etc) all going to be reversible to stock factory spec. though so not cutting the sub frame or anything else.

Right you lot pack this in, I’m starting to get an itch that might need scratching, that MZ was the worst one- there’s 2 ETA’s sat in my dad’s garage…
Its bad enough keeping the pushbikes running without finding another money pit!

    Damn you all!

(goes off back to page 1 to look at that etz321…..)

We rode these to the Ace café a few years ago – I got to ride the 1000 😀

Best one he built was a V8 rover slotted into an UNMODIFIED featherbed frame – scarey stuff !!

Is the member ‘Woody’ on this forum from UK? and owns (owned) an SRX 600. I found a picture of an SRX600 owned by Woody in the UK on internet and would love to know where the seat came from.

I saw one of these Guzzis last year, and fell in love… Had a chat with the rider, asking where he had the custom done, and was astounded to find out it was straight from the catalogue!

It may just be the photo angle, but that guzzi doesn’t look anything special.
When people say Cafe racer I think more.
