Need some ruthless stuff for a well overgrown garden, brambles, nettles & all the other crap in between.
I used to be able to get undiluted Roundup but my supplier has retired.
What else is there? Or do Agri suppliers still sell decent stuff to the general public?

A fork and spade. Don’t put anything on your garden you wouldn’t feed rabbits with.

I have used this just don’t spray it on plants you want to keep.

With my back? More like a JCB in this case & besides, I don’t have any rabbits.

Clinic Ace. Kills all weeds that we’ve come across n you can drink it neat with no issues (apparently) so safe for pets and children.

Clinic ace and roundup are both glycophosphate. Both are pretty safe ways of killing growing plants.

Rock salt works apparently, but it’ll ruin your soil for growing stuff as well I think.

Gallup and clinic ace are both generic glyphosate (ie roundup). Will nearly kill everything especially grasses but not very good on nettles. SBK brushwood killer is good. Your agri supplier will probably not supply you because of new rules and regs.

    Gallup it is then.
    Thank you.

Roundup ultra 3000 has worked wonders for me. Takes a week or so to show any signs of working but it’s bloody good stuff.

Be patient with glyphosate products they can take some time to work especially on big woody weeds, up to 3 weeks also needs a minimum of 6 hours rain free after spraying preferably 24! A mix of gallup and sbk will be the nearest to agent orange you can get. Watch out for mares tail it may suddenly appear and there is very little can touch that.

I use glyfos which I get from agricultural supplier. Works out much cheaper but then I have an acre or so to look after. Dilution is 15ml to a litre water. I use in back pack sprayer. Seems to kill everything including nettles but can be 3-4 weeks sometimes before you see results.

Glyo as above but buy from your local pound shop or cheapo shop as it is out of licence now so it don’t matter what name is on the label just the percentage and guess where it is cheaper ?

I was cleaning up some alloy the day with wonder wheels, I kicked over the small tub I had some in it poured over some dandelions. They were all dear and shrivelled the next morning, can’t see it being good for the soil but it killed them quicker than anything else.

The good thing about glyphosate is that it only works on plants that are actively growing, so you aren’t poisoning your soil for whatever it is you fancy planting in its place.

You’ll still have to clear up the dead bits/dig out the roots though.

toxixsox’s extreme version aside, I’ve had good results in the past with a roofer’s torch to burn off weeds. Until I got too close to the hedge.

Gallup tends to be cheaper than round up. I buy mine in 5l tubs off Amazon about £30 delivered.

Glyphosphate is good as it gets into the root system and kills them which is why it takes longer to work but it does stop the weeds regrowing. Stuff that works fast just tends to scorch the foliage. All the good redidual weed killers were banned 20 years ago.

I use gallup and spend about 80 quid for a 20l drum which lasts me a season. It kills everything I need dead including nettles, brambles, saplings, etc. It also works well on mares tail over 2 applications 4 weeks apart. 100ml/5l water is the correct dilution.

You’ll be able to buy various versions of glyph online. Gallup is 360ml/l concentrate. Great cost effective total.
