    Brother has a Sportage.
Brother in law has a Sorrento.
Brother used to use Kia but car is too old now, likewise brother in law.

Mate at work had a 3 week old Sorrento recovered from Cornwall to Midlands because of an Auto box issue. Kia dealers sent it to an auto box specialist…who topped up the auto box oil level. 🙂

    After a few pointers…

The 59 plate Ceed we’ve had for nearly a year is due it’s first service since we’ve had it.
It will be the 4th one its had (I think) but I have no idea what I’ll be charged.
The most logical place to take it is Sandicliffe in Leicester as that’s where I work but I’ve heard not-very-good things about it. It’s been absolutely fine but I’m sceptical that they’ll ‘find’ something wrong!
Has anyone used them lately or can I use an independent garage and keep the warranty valid if they use ‘genuine Kia parts’.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated….cheers.

    Kia Soul here

Has anyone used them lately or can I use an independent garage and keep the warranty valid if they use ‘genuine Kia parts’.

My understanding is that for the 5 and 7 year warranties from Hyundai & Kia the work needs to be carried out at a franchised garage.

no, thank god, a kia sedona was the worst vehicle i have ever owned, with the worst customer service by a car manufacurere and dealership i have ever encountered.

The only requirement is that it is serviced as per the manufacturer’s schedule with genuine parts. They can’t force you to use a franchised dealer. My garage did mine and kia had no issues when it went into them for a warranty issue. Just make sure the receipt shows it was serviced correctly.

I have an old 03 plate Sedona, I’ve only taken it to the dealers twice in the 8 years I’ve owned it and both times have been totally disappointing.

The car itself has been brilliant and the dealer in France who had to fix the cam belt and damage 5000 miles after it had been replaced, see above, were damm good tho.

Had it recently to sort air con and central locking out, neither of which they did anything to repair, i ended up reparti get the air conditioning myself and got Kwik Fit to regas for me.

11 plate Ceed owner here. Had the 2nd service in June, just over £330 😯 . Now it looks like the clutch is going- going to be nearly £600 and a week to have it looked at. Oh, and as luck would have it the 7 year warranty only covers the clutch for 2 years. Not a happy bunny at the mo 👿 .

You may well be getting an e-mail Footflaps once EMG have had a look!

    Cheers,

2 yr old Soul petrol here (or the wife’s car to be correct). First 3 yrs servicing was part of the deal, but as above, better to keep to franchised dealers if you want to use the 7 yr warranty, rergardless of what European Law says about Indy’s

Spoke to Kia customer service today.
They confirmed that if you go to a VAT registered garage that use Kia or similar quality parts i.e. Bosch not Happy Shopper and keep all receipts it’s not a problem.

    Gonna shop around for quotes…

    jamiea…

The clutch in your Ceed is maybe the same as mine (I have a diesel Soul). Mine failed this year (at 3 years old) and was covered by warrenty by my Kia dealer.

Basically, the springs in the clutch housing were breaking (half of them gone at point of looking) so I’d get a second opinion on the warranty situation.

I’ve found my Kia dealer a bit up and down, but generally they’ve been pretty good although I’ve been disappointed in the number of warranty issues I’ve had with the car.

The bill for my clutch issues came to almost £1400 so was very pleased it was warranty. Like I say, maybe worth asking Kia direct?

Cheers for that p8ddy. I rang Kia and they said get it to the dealer in the first instance, so the wife rang the garage where we bought it and they mentioned the 2 year warranty on the clutch.

We took it in, they had a look and said they need to get the gearbox out and we’d better leave it with them for a week. I’ll get back on to Kia once they’ve had it in in a couple of weeks. At least we’ll get a courtesy car- a poxy Fiat 500- I imagine that’ll be a whole heap of fun getting our 15 month old in and out of!

    Cheers,

    A bit of an update…

We took the car in last Saturday, garage phoned on Tuesday saying that the clutch didn’t appear to be worn and that they were waiting to hear back from the Kia tech bods.

Wife took a call from them yesterday and its a warranty issue, tho’ she couldn’t remember what exactly the issue is 🙄
I’ll get the lowdown when I pick it up next Tuesday. Glad not to be facing a ~£600 bill!

    Cheers,
    Jamie
