Heading up to Snowdonia with the road bike on Sunday and wanted to include the Stwlan dam climb, but I understand that it may still be closed due to construction work. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
    Cheers 👍

Its a Sunday so I can’t imagine anyone will be working up there even if there is still construction work. Reckon you’ll be okay.

Not sure of the state of the road but its been dug up recently, Im sure you could ride most of the way as they still require vehicle access for normal operation.
If you want a big climb try and ride up to the old manod quarry from ffestiniog, very steep tarmac up to a dead end. It’s where the national gallery was located during the war.m

If the dam road is still off limits, Fford Pen LLech (world’s steepest road) is less than 15 miles away in Harlech, or you could ride over Hirnant Pass to do the triple climb up Bwlch Y Groes (including riding around Lake Vrynwy)…. Or cover all the above for a very memorable day! 😈

So it is still closed. We rode up anyway. The work looks close to complete, just a bit of resurfacing to finish. We weren’t the only folk up there, loads of walkers and a group of climbers up there too. Nice climb, nice view.
