Little feckers coming in behind the sink base unit at ground level, possibly just under ground level. Had a quick scout outside in the dark and no real sign as the yard is concreted! So short of breaking up the yard, what powder/death potion can I chuck under the unit in the plinth void and possibly around outside?

boric acid mixed with orange juice or jam works as a home brew potion

I use boiling water, lots of it, to combat the ants that sometimes appear on/under our brick weave drive.

According to my mother it’s the only thing that actually works. In my experience she’s right.

    Be patient, keep pouring!

Not so useful indoors, but the nest must be outside somewhere.

Nippon or build a nice patio at the bottom of the garden to tempt them away – ants love a patio

Nippon. Ants love food leftovers so give the cupboard/kitchen a good clean too.

My dads mate used to be a pest controller for the council and that’s what he used.

I think the powder we’ve got is Nippon too. In the spring we start to see a few coming in to scout the place out, as soon as they start doing this we put some along the back of the house. This seems to stop them coming in. We’ve not put any on their nest as we don’t want to kill them, just stop them coming in the house.

How about removing the food supply

    It’s very effective

Kitchen is pretty damn clean as the mrs is in the catering industry. No food can really get under the cupboards because of the kick boards. They are only tiny little feckers but there was probably a dozen under there last night.

Take off and nuke them from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

To get rid of the last lot I dug the nest up and used an epic amount of killer….. 😈 it became an obsession……

I always liked the magnifying glass as an ant killing weapon, that or lighter fluid.

talcum powder works well, doesnt kill them just diverts them which is more freindly.
