Out of stock, so stupid price put on to hold the listing until stock is acquired, then price will be edited.

Didnt realise this was a thing on Ebay till some Galfer 220mm rotars went from £39.99 to £250 each! Recently have dropped back down in price now

Some stores, at least on Amazon, have automatic price-gouging enabled. If the item goes out of stock everywhere else, they’ll jack up the price automatically.

Obviously it doesn’t work well for things like grips but if someone needs a specialist bit of equipment in a hurry it could earn the seller a nice windfall.
I’m guessing it’s probably not a legal tactic.

I assumed it was just a trap for drunk shoppers who misread the decimal place.
